Baloise site (Zwijndrecht) will be given logistical interpretation as 'West Port'.

Project developer Van Wellen Group is going to renovate the former Baloise site along the E34 in Zwijndrecht and expand it with a large logistics building under the name 'West Port'. There is a real chance that Van Moer will rent the logistics building.

Van Wellen Group owns the 10.000 m² building, which was already renovated in 2000. The existing building with communal meeting rooms on the ground floor and a fitness room will be renovated in 2022. This will include sustainability investments, such as renewing the technical installations and installing solar panels on the new warehouse.

The building has 434 m² of office space on the first floor and 772 m² on the third floor still available for rent.

At the rear of the building, some older parts will be demolished and a number of new industrial warehouse units will be built for suppliers to the chemical industry. The site has been renamed 'West Port'.

Large warehouse

On the east side along the E34, a large warehouse with office or showroom will be built on the existing car park. "This is a design for a master plan that we are discussing with our architect Wilma Wastiau and the municipality of Zwijndrecht. The plan still has to be approved. There is a realistic chance that the new warehouse will be rented out to Van Moer Logistics, but it may also be rented out to another party. Given that the Van Wellen family is co-owner of the real estate of Van Moer Storage and given the good relationship and neighbourhood, the chance is real that it will be Van Moer," says Raf Michiels, commercial director of Van Wellen Group.
